Blurb

Love is only a battlefield when you have a fighting chance.

In the aftermath of bad decisions followed by poor thinking, Brayden is still without Kira.

Years of hurt have hardened Kira, and she’s not just going to roll over for Brayden on command. Strong willed and stubborn, neither of them is willing to give in without a fight.

There’s a million reasons why she shouldn’t care for him anymore . . . but she does.

Brayden senses this, and he’s laid siege on her life, haunting her in every possible sense—reminding her of what they once shared.

But he’s still the man that wrecked her.

The man she loves.

The man she utterly despises.

He’s still her step brother.

Right and wrong have no sway with the heart. What it wants, it takes.

With every day that passes, Kira is reminded of all the reasons she has to hate him . . . and all the reasons she still has to adore him.

Can Kira let go and give him a chance, or is it really too little, too late?

Even if she can forgive him, is it possible for them to have a future together while still being step-siblings?

My Review

Oh lord, what are these women doing to me!! Take is the second book in the trilogy and I feel like I have been waiting forever for this book. However, that didn’t dispel my excitement when I started Take

The story begins exactly right were Need left off. Brayden has decided he doesn’t care what others think, he wants something real with Kira. However, Kira has lived through hell with Brayden and refuses to allow him into her life now that he decided it’s what he wants, finally. Kira is struggling with what she wants, needs and what she believes is the right thing to do.

This is where I struggle too because I love Brayden. Is he perfect, no, but he is a dirty talker, compassionate and I believe he always had the best of intentions. Now, Kira, she isn’t willing to see or admit that right now. That’s my struggle, because I want her to give in and accept Brayden. I want them to finally have that hot, dirty sex I have been anticipating, but if she does what does that say about her. See the struggle is real!

In the end, I really enjoyed parts of this installment. I loved how it was sexy as sin. I loved my dirty talking anti-hero. I even loved how Kira was ready to stand her ground, because I love a strong heroine. But I felt his story needed more progression and the couple needed to move forward or move on.

Lastly, I am a little upset to learn this is book two of three and not two of two, like originally planned. Now I am all for authors following their voice, because they are the creative genius behind my favorite books. However, it’s like being told you can have cake for dessert so you rush to finish your meal only to learn you can have cake eleven months later. Hello, I am a fat kid, I need my cake now!

If you have been following the series, I highly recommend Take. I am hoping that we receive the final installment sooner than later, because I really need to know how things will finally play out.

She spent her life in the arts, everything from music to painting and ceramics, then to writing. Characters have always run around in her head, acting out their stories, but it wasn't until later in life she would put them to pen. Since she began posting stories online, she's garnered acclaim for her diverse stories and hard hitting writing style. Two stories and characters are never the same, her brain moving through different ideas faster than she can write them down as it also plots its quest for world domination...or cheese. Whichever is easier to obtain... Usually it's cheese.
