Title: Scarlet Stone
Author: Jewel E Ann
Genre: A romantic suspense standalone
Release Date: December 10th, 2016
Synopsis“My name is Scarlet Stone, and my biggest fear is that someday I will find what I want most in life, and it will be impossible to steal.” What happens when life just stops? When one moment makes you question your entire existence? Scarlet Stone is a third-generation thief who has everything: a doting fiancé, a spacious London flat, and a legitimate job offer. In a single breath, everything becomes nothing, and she finds herself on a plane to Savannah, Georgia in search of the meaning of life. After securing a six-month lease for a beachfront house on Tybee Island, Scarlet changes the way she looks, thinks, eats—basically her entire outlook on life. She needs peace, but what she gets is a housemate who looks like Thor, acts like a warden, and smells her proximity like a Bloodhound. Theodore Reed is a carpenter and perfectionist with a body built of steel, a black, hollow heart, and a hunger for revenge. He doesn’t like company, girly-smelling crap, and British accents. He resents every breath she takes. She’s fascinated by his every move. In time, they discover their coexistence is toxic, their physical attraction is electric, the secrets they keep mean the difference between life and death, and the only truth they share is that everything is a lie. “Over eighty-five percent of the world's population believes in a higher power, yet, very few people believe in miracles.” Do you believe?
My 5 Star Review
I love Jewel E. Ann’s books, every one I have read has pulled me in and owned me from start to finish. Scarlett Stone isn’t your typical read, but I fell so in love with this story. From the very beginning I was intrigued and wanting to know about everyone!
Scarlett is a third generation thief and the story begins with her visiting her father in jail in London where she has resided for most of her life. We know he took the fall for a crime she committed and we know she is saying goodbye to him. She then moves to Savannah, her place of birth, and only plans to stay for six months. On the plane overseas she meets Nolan and he offers her a room to rent.
Scarlett arrives and finds her new rental home is on Tybee Island and she will be sharing a room with Theo. Theo is eccentric, closed off, and definitely rough around the edges. He is also handsome and Scarlett is immediately attracted to this beast of a man, but he wants nothing to do with her. Theo is like no character I have ever read and he was one mystery I very excited to crack.
Scarlett is very outgoing and open to forming friendships in her new life, but Theo wants no part of it. I wanted to know more about him and understand his resistance to Scarlett’s kindness. These two’s love/hate relationship was so intriguing and had me hooked. Their chemistry is off the charts and even though Theo doesn’t want friendship from Scarlett he can’t deny their sexual attraction. So what’s starts out purely physical turns into something so much more.
Legit, so much more, but this is the type of story you should go in blind, because it’s just more. It’s more than about Scarlett and Theo. It’s about finding yourself, finding peace and the selflessness and pureness of true friendship. I loved this book, love, love, loved it. I felt like it was absolutely perfect. It had me laughing, crying and dying to read more. It also made me think and had me sharing the plot with my husband this afternoon because I couldn't stop thinking about it. This is just another reason why Jewel E. Ann is an epic writer, must. read. for. sure.
